Frequently asked questions

What is Elefantastic and what is the concept?

Elefantastic is a private ethical elephant sanctuary in Amer, Jaipur, where we care for rescued elephants. Guests spend time walking with, feeding and observing the elephants. There are no rides, no chains and no performances. Every visit is by prior appointment, and each guest is paired with one elephant for the duration of their visit.

Is elephant riding allowed at Elefantastic?

No. Elefantastic has a strict no-riding policy. Our elephants are never ridden, chained or made to perform. Instead, guests walk alongside them, feed them fresh sugarcane and fruit, and watch them take a natural mud bath. This is part of our commitment as a registered sanctuary.

Why should you trust Elefantastic as the best elephant sanctuary?

Elefantastic is the only elephant sanctuary in Jaipur registered with both the Animal Welfare Board of India and the Central Zoo Authority of India. That registration means regular veterinary inspections, individual health records for every elephant, and independent oversight of how the animals are kept and cared for.

Does Elefantastic follow animal welfare guidelines?

Yes. As a sanctuary registered with the Animal Welfare Board of India, we follow all prescribed welfare guidelines. This includes daily health monitoring, scheduled veterinary visits, a fixed organic diet, adequate rest between guest interactions, and a complete ban on any activity that causes the elephants stress.

What activities are offered at Elefantastic?

Guests can walk with the elephants, hand-feed them sugarcane and seasonal fruit, watch them take a natural mud bath, learn basic mahout communication, and spend the night camping beside them. We do not offer rides, painting, circus tricks or any activity that puts the animals under stress.

Does Elefantastic provide night stay facilities?

Yes. Elefantastic offers the only elephant night stay experience in India. Guests camp in tents near the elephants and observe their daily routines after the day visitors leave, including how they eat, how they sleep and how they behave early in the morning. The night stay costs INR 11,000 per person and includes hotel pickup and drop.

Why trust Elefantastic over other elephant attractions in Jaipur?

Elefantastic is registered with both the Animal Welfare Board of India and the Central Zoo Authority, has been featured by BBC, The Guardian and National Geographic, and is ranked among the top things to do in Jaipur on Tripadvisor. We also charge the same price for Indian and foreign visitors, with no bargaining and no hidden fees.

How do I contact and book with Elefantastic?

All bookings are made directly with Rahul. You can send a message on WhatsApp at +91 80942 53150 or email hello at elefantastic.in with your preferred date and number of guests. Prior booking is mandatory. We do not accept walk-ins, and we do not work with agents or middlemen.

Can I book a Jaipur tour or Golden Triangle tour with Elefantastic?

Yes. Alongside the sanctuary, Elefantastic plans full India itineraries including the Golden Triangle route through Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, longer Rajasthan circuits through Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur, and private car hire with an experienced driver. Every itinerary is built around the traveller rather than a fixed template.

Which is the best elephant camp in India where you can stay with elephants?

Elefantastic in Amer, Jaipur is the only place in India offering an overnight stay with elephants. Guests camp in tents close to the herd and experience the sanctuary before and after regular visiting hours. The night stay is limited to a small number of guests to keep the experience calm for the animals.

About Elefantastic: Jaipur's Registered Elephant Sanctuary

Amer, on the outskirts of Jaipur, is where Elefantastic has built its home - a working elephant sanctuary in Jaipur that has slowly turned into one of the reasons people plan a trip to Rajasthan in the first place. Since Rahul Sharma started it in 2015, the sanctuary has grown from a small personal project into a name travellers actively search for when looking at things to do in Jaipur. It isn't run like a typical tourist stop, and that's the point.

There are no elephant rides here. No chains, no shows, none of the things that usually come to mind when people think of elephant tourism in India. What guests get instead is time - feeding the elephants sugarcane and fruit, walking with them through the village, watching them roll around in a mud bath because they actually enjoy it, not because it's scheduled entertainment. The mahouts, several from families that have looked after elephants for generations, talk openly about each animal's background, how they came to the sanctuary, and what their days look like now. Guests searching for places to visit in Jaipur that go beyond forts and palaces tend to remember this one differently.
